Parakeets?
There are a lot of these birds (maybe 50?) around the area but we
are not sure exactly what they are. They fly in small groups, very low (head height) and very fast. They seem to spend the night on scrub land around the Salinas de Marchamalo and then roost in palm trees in Playa Honda during the day. They are very noisy!
The yellow belly marked with red looks like that of the burrowing parakeet, but the white eye flash doesn't fit.
If anyone knows anymore about the origin or name of these birds please let us know so that we can update this information.
