The following messages can appear in the Action column of the various page panels.
-
SPAM will appear for every comment in the Spam Comments panel. It is redundant as all comments in this panel are spam but it serves as a visual reminder that you are viewing spam comments. You will not see this on any other panel because spam comments are listed only in the Spam Comments panel.
-
Unapproved appears for all newly entered comments if you have set the “moderate all” configuration setting to moderate all comments. The comment will not be shown to visitors. You must either approve or delete the comment.
-
Max links exceeded will appear for any comment that has more than the maximum number of permitted links (a configuration setting). The comment is “unapproved” and will not be shown to visitors. You must either approve or delete the comment.
-
Akismet key invalid appears if, when attempting to validate the comment, the Akismet server returned an invalid key status. If this occurs at all, it should only happen when you are initially setting up the system.
If it occurs after you have previously successfully connected with the Akismet server, then either (1) your Akismet key has become corrupted or (2) something is wrong with the Akismet server. Verify your Akismet key via the Maintenance » Configuration Settings panel.
The comment is “unapproved” and will not be shown to visitors. You should approve it or delete it.
-
Akismet connect failed appears if, when attempting to validate the comment, the Akismet server does not respond. Why it did not respond we do not know. It may be temporarily down for maintenance, or overwhelmed with spam check requests, or some other problem caused it to be unreachable at that moment.
The comment is “unapproved” and will not be shown to visitors. You should approve it or delete it.
