These are the links that may appear in the Action column. Any noted Akismet actions will be performed only if (1) a WordPress API key (configuration setting) exists and (2) the “Testing” configuration option is not set.
-
[Edit] appears for every comment on every panel. Clicking it opens the comment edit form allowing you to change the comment without going to the page on which the comment appears.
-
[Reply] appears for every comment on every panel. Clicking it opens the comment reply form allowing you to reply without going to the page on which the comment appears. On that panel you have the option to send a copy of the reply by email to the comment author. A copy of that email is sent to you (the address in configuration setting admin_email).
Note that you can reply by email without entering a reply on the comment page by clicking the the author name which is a mailto link.
-
[Ban IP] or [Uban IP] appears for every comment on every panel. The link “toggles” between ban and unban. Clicking it bans or unbans the comment author’s IP address.
A comment entered from a banned IP address is rejected and results in the visitor receiving a “you are not allowed to enter comments” error message.
- [Approve] appears for every “unapproved” comment. Clicking it changes the comment’s status to approved.
In addition, if the comment was marked as spam, the Akismet service will be sent an “is ham” notice informing it of the mis-diagnosis.
- [Delete] appears for every comment on every panel. Clicking it deletes the comment. There is no confirmation dialog so be careful. Once deleted, it cannot be undeleted.
-
[Is Spam] appears for every comment on every panel except the Spam Comments panel (if a WordPress API key exists). Clicking it deletes the comment. Again, be careful. Once deleted, it cannot be undeleted.
Use this instead of [Delete] if the comment is spam. The Akismet service will be sent an “is spam” notice informing it of the mis-diagnosis.
